Folkloric music

Strict music remains a fundamental piece of conventional Sufi Muslim and Coptic Christian festivals called mulids. Mulids are held in Egypt to praise the holy person of a specific church. Muslim mulids are identified with the Sufi zikr custom. The Egyptian woodwind, called the ney, is usually played at mulids. The ceremonial music of the Alexandrian Rite likewise establishes a significant component of Egyptian music and is said to have saved numerous highlights of antiquated Egyptian music. ----
